Storage & Freshness
How to store the products?
Once received, you should always store your Kimchi, Sauerkraut, and Pickles in the refrigerator.
Because these are naturally fermented products, storing them in the fridge slows down the fermentation process, keeps them fresh, and maintains their optimal flavour and crunchiness.
For unopened jars of Sauerkraut or Kimchi, keeping them refrigerated ensures they do not become overly sour or build up excess gas pressure. For Black Seed Oil and Garlic Fermented Honey, keep it stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, or in the refrigerator to preserve its quality.
Is shipping Kimchi safe during summers? Won't it spoil in the heat?
Yes, it is perfectly safe! Kimchi is a naturally fermented product, and fermentation is a method that has been used for centuries to preserve food. Being in transit for three to five working days does not impact the quality or taste of the kimchi, and it definitely does not get spoiled on the way. We actually ship it while it is still fermenting, so by the time it reaches you, it is at its perfect stage.
Regarding the summer heat, we successfully ship nationwide, including to the hottest cities, and we have never experienced issues or received bad reviews regarding spoilage. Kimchi travels very safely and will arrive in optimum condition.
Once you receive your parcel, it is an absolute must to store the kimchi in the refrigerator. At room temperature, kimchi ferments very rapidly. Storing it in the fridge slows down this fermentation process and maintains its ideal taste, texture, and quality.
Will the jar burst because of fermentation? How do you deliver Kimchi safely?
Kimchi is a living, naturally fermenting food, and during transit it continues to ferment, producing carbon dioxide gas. If it were shipped in a sealed glass jar, the pressure from these fermentation gases could cause the jar to crack or even burst during delivery.
To prevent this, we pack our kimchi in imported food-grade vacuum-seal pouches, which safely allow the kimchi to travel while it's still actively fermenting. We then send empty glass jars separately, so once your parcel arrives, you can simply transfer the kimchi into the glass jar and store it in the refrigerator.
This is the safest way to ensure your kimchi reaches you in perfect condition while protecting it from breakage during transit.
We currently use our 37th leak-proof packaging, specially designed for shipping naturally fermented foods, developed after extensive testing to make sure your order reaches you safely with minimal risk of leakage.
Kimchi, Fermentation & Safety
What is Kimchi?
Kimchi is Korea's national dish and a natural probiotic food. It is naturally fermented using unique ingredients like Gochugaru, Napa Cabbage, Buchu, Nori, Kelp, Shiitake, Fish Sauce and much more. It's fermented naturally without any pickling agent like vinegar or oil, which lets good probiotic bacteria grow and add amazing, unique flavours to the food. The same probiotic bacteria then goes into your gut, kills bad bacteria, and allows your body to:
- Remove acne
- Make your skin shine
- Promote excess fat loss
- Help muscle gain
- Reduce inflammation in the body
- Fix irritable bowel syndrome
- Boost nutrient absorption
- Reduce acidity
- Improve mood (Yes! Kimchi is a natural mood enhancer)
What's the difference between a Pickle and Kimchi?
Pickles are health neutral and have a singular flavour profile due to the use of a pickling agent. Kimchi is FULL of probiotics, incredibly healthy and has an insanely complex flavour profile due to natural fermentation methods.
What are the benefits of Kimchi?
Authentic kimchi is fermented for 6-8 weeks with no vinegar or oils. This long, natural fermentation makes kimchi the richest probiotic food in the world, and gives kimchi its intense, complex flavour profile.
Regular kimchi consumption is the #1 cure to reduce acidity, bloating, and gut discomfort by promoting a healthier microbiome. If you face gut issues, there is nothing in the world that can fix them like Kimchi can.
What is the recommended daily intake of Kimchi?
Just 2-3 spoons a day! You can have it on its own, or as a side dish with any food you're having. It goes great with rice, noodles, ramen, meat, chicken, fish, daal chawal. Or you can cook it to make kimchi grilled cheese, kimchi fried rice, kimchi ramen, the options are endless.
Is Kimchi too spicy?
Kimchi isn't actually spicy at all! Real Korean kimchi tastes like umami, tangy, slightly sweet, and only mildly hot. That's because it uses gochugaru, a naturally sweet, smoky Korean red pepper that's gentle on the stomach.
Does Kimchi have too much salt?
Our kimchi doesn't contain excess salt. Most of the salt is only used during the preparation process to draw excess water out of the vegetables. The vegetables are then thoroughly rinsed before the seasoning and fermentation process begins, so the final product contains much less sodium than many people expect.
Nutritional Information per 100 grams: 41 kCal, 0g Fat, 7.8g Carbohydrates, 1g Fiber, 2g Protein, 1.3g Salt.
A typical serving is only 2-3 tablespoons (around 30g) with your meal, which accounts for very little sodium.
Is Kimchi safe for people with diabetes?
Yes, many people with diabetes enjoy kimchi as part of a balanced diet.
Our Authentic Korean Kimchi is naturally fermented and made primarily from vegetables, making it low in calories and rich in probiotics that support gut health.
We only use a small amount of cane sugar during preparation to help kick-start the fermentation process. During fermentation, much of that sugar is naturally consumed by the beneficial bacteria, so kimchi is not a sweet product.
As with any food, we recommend enjoying it in moderation as part of a balanced diet.
Does Kimchi produce alcohol during fermentation?
That's actually a very common misconception.
The fermentation of kimchi is completely different from the fermentation used to make wine or beer. Wine and beer are fermented to produce alcohol (ethanol).
Kimchi, on the other hand, undergoes lactic acid fermentation, just like yogurt, cheese, pickles, and sauerkraut. Beneficial bacteria (mainly Lactobacillus) convert the natural sugars in the vegetables into lactic acid, not alcohol. This is what gives kimchi its tangy taste and makes it rich in probiotics.
Our kimchi contains no vinegar, no added alcohol, and no alcohol producing ingredients. It is made using the authentic Korean recipe, and we are very particular about halal.
Are your products halal?
Yes, we're very particular about our products being HALAL, we use all halal ingredients.
Is it pregnancy safe or can we use it in pregnancy?
Yes, many of our pregnant customers enjoy it as part of their regular diet.
Our Authentic Korean Kimchi is a naturally fermented superfood and is considered a gold standard for natural probiotics. It contains beneficial live probiotics that support a healthy gut microbiome and digestion. It's also rich in vegetables and provides a delicious source of nutrients and fermented food benefits.
We recommend enjoying it in moderation, around 2-3 tablespoons with your meals.
Is your Kimchi vacuum sealed?
Our kimchi is not vacuum sealed 100% because doing so would crush and squish the Napa cabbage, affecting its texture.
Instead, we vacuum seal it to around 80%, leaving just enough room to protect the vegetables while still removing most of the air. This helps preserve the kimchi without damaging it.
Kimchi is a living, actively fermenting food, and during fermentation it naturally releases gases. We intentionally leave a little headspace in the jar to allow for this expansion and to prevent excess pressure from building up. You will still receive the full net weight mentioned on the label. Don't worry, that's completely normal.
Can I take your Kimchi abroad, on a flight?
For flights, we recommend keeping the kimchi in the vacuum-sealed pouch during travel. Our imported food-grade vacuum-seal pouches are travel-friendly and much safer than carrying glass jars.
We ship the kimchi in these pouches along with empty glass jars, so once you reach your destination, you can simply transfer the kimchi into the glass jar and store it in the refrigerator.
This is the safest and easiest way to travel with kimchi.
